A friend of mine picked up 8 mounted & framed coin sets she left 3 with me to help her determine their value, long story short I can't find any similar items to base an evaluation on so any help would be greatly appreciated. This set shows examples of the progression of coinage during Elizabeth from silver to nickel dates range from '62 -'77 Coinage examples used during WWI & WWII Top set date range 1916 - 1918 Bottom range from '39 - '45 Mint state nickel set dates range 1899 - 2000 *1899 is the only coin not in PL condition I consider all opinions valid so if you have one please fell free to share it with me I welcome any ideas

Indeed, I am considering purchasing them for my office. Very nice show pieces even though the dates are not that rare the coins are beautiful.

I"ve seen several similer items with US coins. Invariably the coins are cleaned and/or heavily polished. I can't see the coins in your pics to tell the condition of the coins. I will say that the background/mount seem to be of higher quality design than the US ones.

A lot of these framed coins were sold by Steve Bromberg on the Canadian Home Shopping Channel back in the late '90s early 2000, at fairly high prices. Great looking displays.

I have the Elizabeth framed as well as George V and George VI stamps and coins in a nice frame. Most of the older coins have been at least cleaned and some artificial toning gives some of the silver reverses a nice look. For Monarchists nice on the wall, for numismatists maybe melt. Don't get me wrong I am still glad to have them.

The first Frame (Selected Canadian Coinage of _Monarch_) is by a Company called 'Heritage Collectibles'. The Monarch Series comprised 5 Frames: Vic / Ed7 / Geo5 / Geo6 / QE2. The labels often dry and fall off the backs.
Heritage Collectibles produced approx 32 different Frames (and many varieties thereof) between circa 1985 - 2001. Their first Series was "Selected Canadian Large Cents of Vic / Ed7 / Geo5" (3 Frames). More info, including approx "in hand" values is available.
The latter 2 Frames appear to be produced by the 'Excelsior Guild of Ottawa' and are usually produced as numbered frames (as in, 545 of 1500). I do not collect these - so my info here is very limited.

Great info Youngbd1 I have never known the source of the monarch framed sets. They are quite nice. Oh and by the way Youngbd1 glad you could join us on the journey to happy numismatics.

Why, thank you kindly priorpence. To answer john517's question about value, the Monarch QE2 value "in hand" today is in the $60-80 range. His QE2 is a later (circa 1998-2000) model, probably with corner clamps. In light of HRH's recent illness, the trend may be to the higher end of the range. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Is the any way to open the sets? (Note: I'm telling you to open them)
The reason I ask is because maybe someone bought the frames before he/she mounted these coins by himself/herself.
