My son asked me to get him this set from Littleton Coin. It's only $15 USD which is a bit pricy for 16 pennies. He likes Abraham Lincoln (learned about him in school), he thinks the gold plated & colorized versions are "awesome", and thinks the designs on each coin are great too.

I was wondering if anyone has this set and can comment on whether or not it is really a good collection?

Price aside---what do folks think about the actual coin collection?

Most collectors would consider the plated and colorized coins as damaged. This being said, he is a kid and if he thinks they are "awesome" 15 bucks aint so bad to foster a love of coins!

I just paid another $35 to get the second 25 cent cupronickel glow in the dark dinosaur coin.
You are investing $15 in your son's future love of coins, not the pennies.

I also purchased the 25 cent Dino Coin but that is for my own collection. :)

I agree that it is fostering his love of coins. I hope he loves them as much when they arrive!

Perfectly fine on the 15 for the pennies. It aint that much and your son likes it.
