Hi All,

Well after getting myself all hyped up about the 2009 Lincoln Cents and then to make it worse I see all the articles on the internet and here on the forum about possible mint errors well I went and purchased 1 roll of each 2009 Lincoln Cent Design (Philadelphia Mint release). Grant it I didnt spend a ton of money but nevertheless I let coin fever get the best of me.

Now my only concern is what to do with them? I do have 1 set of both mint releases so these I guess are extra. These are not from the mint but were rolled by an armored carrier that purchased them from the mint directly. They are mostly by grade an MS 63 or MS 64. Hopefully over the weekend I will check them for the mint errors and then tube them.

Roll them back up and label them down. Just save them or sell them. They're your coins, do what you really want to do.

The only thing left to do is get the rest of the set. The mint released rolls are zinc alloy. The 2009 pennies in the P&D mint sets are satin(burnished) finish and are 95% copper. The proof versions are proof finish and also 95% copper. Your collection isn't complete until you have all three finishes, mint marks and compositions.

Don't forget to look for varieties too.

Most of the errors were found in special collector rolls of the Formative Years P-cent (LP-2)sold by the Mint direct to the public. I had a great time searching these rolls and finding MANY different types. It was a blast...literally over 100 different with most (well, some) easily seen...there were errors in the other Three Cent types of that year but they seem more subtle and less frequent.

I did not find any in the bank rolls I checked nor in the Denver formative rolls from the Mint
