As some of you may know, I had an 1858 Flying Eagle with abnormally dark toning. I wanted to bring out the details in it, so I soaked it in acetone. I didn't get very much result out of that, so I soaked it in a soap and vinegar solution. Here is where I am at now. Do you think I should keep soaking in and bring out more of the yellow metal color or keep it the way it is? It looks a little better that it does in the pictures.

As is often the case, you have surface damage under the gunk. I wouldn't spend too much more time with this one unless you're in the mood to play.

The rim ding and surface damage coupled with VF Details leave you with a $15 coin.

I think I may try to do the same with this one. I think it is a copper nickel 1864 IHC but a little difficult to tell but the edges are kind of a give away:

Well... this is what I ended up with. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I guess it is what it is. This seems like a terrible question considering that I just took off most of 154 years of toning, but is there any way to tone a coin a little bit after you have cleaned it? I mean, just to darken the coloring a little so it blends better? I read somewhere that putting coins in sunlight can have some affect?

There are many ways to attempt a re-tone but I've never had good success with any quick method. Since you know you have a low value coin, you could just attempt removing more black stuff.

@buddy16cat, don't know if you're joking or not. But that's a Indian Head cent.

@bbddbb10, once cleaned it's cleaned. Just leave it be I guess.
