I see some coins graded as PL64 but when I look up reference in Charlton there is only a Pl65. Will someone please enlighten me as to what PL64 is?

Thanks

PL is Proof Like and 64 is the grade.

PL coins can go as low as PL60
Charlton's does not list PL64 coins for two reasons.
1. There is not enough room in their tables for all grades.
2. "The Charlton pricing tables are based on market prices for Canadian certified coins.......cost per coin averages between $7 and $10..." The majority of PL64 coins are worth less than the price of certification.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

CCN periodically publishes trends on early PL singles, and that includes PL-64 columns (regular, cameo, heavy cameo)

Pre-1957 PL-64 $1 have decent value. Pre-1955 can be quite valuable.

e.g. 1952 SWL $1
PL-64: $1700
PL-65: $2700
PL-66: $4400
