Hi everyone, Hope you're all havin' a great day... :) Was quite surprised to see this... I had previously thought that the use of "Fair" as a grading designation for bottom rung was used only by graders in USA... Don't we normally start out our grades in Canada at "About Good"...? Take care, cameron93

HI Cam , if I remember correctly a few years back ICCS ( Brian ) was selling a complete silver dollar collection that was supposed to be the worst - lowest grades ever, and in his description he said how he even had to invent new grades for some and thats when I first seen the use of fair on any of his items ...

I've seen Fair-2 grade used many times. Better than poor but not quite abt.good. dialog_gvf shows the number scale associated with these lower grades.

The only thing missing is the numeral 2 as in FR02. I have an 1807 USA quarterdollar in an ANACS FR02 holder. Remember the 70 point scale. Theoretically all can be ( but are not) used.

I sold an 1889 10-cent at the fall Nuphilex, graded ICCS Fair. I had submitted the coin to ICCS some time ago. Note that I did not submit the coin for the grade (that was easy enough to see), it was for the authenticity of the date.

I had a chartered banknote submitted to PMG last year and it came back Fair 2. Similar to SPP-Ottawa, the note was is such shape I was just trying to preserve it..so I guess this counts for all gradings, coins and notes.

Interesting. How did he acquire them? He was in a great position to make an offer when something really low came in. But, that is a disturbing conflict of interest to be grading and purchasing. "Bottom feeder" collections seem popular in the US. Not much so with Canadians.

Fair 2? I see that grade all the time, its a very important grade for lowball collectors.
