I'm back from another Sunday Coin Show. Picked up two more Morgans. Both were 1879-S 12a. Die filing in Bow, Tailfeather, Arrow area, double S. Everything that shows on VAM World for a 12a is on both coins. Both graded MS64 NGC. My question to the VAM specialist is: Both coins are Rarity 5, is this common to pick up 2 VAMs and same variety that easy? Both were out of the same dealers case and were visible to the naked eye, both unatributed....I've been having fun this last month or so. I surely can send cell phone photos to any of the specialists on the CCF, I can't do photos myself, I don't have a clue as to how and don't have the time or desire to learn.

Not hard to believe. Consider that rarity numbers are only estimates made at the time of the identification; they're frequently proven wrong. This is quite the coincidence, but not the first time I've heard of it happening.

Yeah SD, thanks, one of the coins has booming luster and the other is subdued, he had 5 coins, all NGC MS64. I was tempted to buy all 5 because of his ask price but didn't want 5 for inventory.
