I'm looking for the mintage of this coin, the 67th Edition of Charlton has,

Standard Raised 2..... 4,259
Colourised Raised 2..... 200
Colourised Incused 2...21,800

Was there more coloured Incused 2 than the Standard 2

I'm sure that this figure is multiplied by one million, if I'm not mistaken. Those numbers seem very low, as I find these quarters on the regular (except for the rarer of the two).

I'm pretty sure that those mintages are multiplied by 1000. The colourised raised 2 has the lowest mintage. All colourised coins were meant to be incused, but some were made raised in error.

What I'm asking is, are there more colour than non-colour?

To my memory the colored one has a mintage of 2 000 000, and the total of men'hockey was 11 000 000. The raise 2 has a mintage of appr. 200 000.

As the OP said, according to Charlton standard vol 1

Standard ---------------4,259,000
Colourised Raised 2--------200,000
Colourised Incused 2--- 21,800,000

Seems pretty clear that there are way more colourised - am I missing something? Not sure why this a question unless you believe Charlton is wrong.

According to coinnews.net, 22 million total of the men's hockey quarters were minted, 3 million of which were colorized. I am having a lot of trouble finding colorized ones in circulation; still looking for a red women's hockey quarter. The article can be read here:

Yes I was thinking it may be a miss print, that's a lot of coloured one's compared to the plain one.

unless someone has millions of the coloured ones hidden away, you can't find them coin roll hunting.imo.

Interesting. You may be correct though I don't know where Charlton gets their numbers. You may need to contact the publisher or the mint; not sure we'll solve it here on a forum.

However, I checked the 2009 annual report, and it states that there are only 9M of the coloured Mens, Womens and Klassen quarters. That would suggest that Charlton may be incorrect.

"Visionary technology
The Mint applied breakthrough robotics to produce the
Vancouver 2010 circulation coins, employing automated vision
systems in the manufacturing of the 25-cent coloured
coins commemorating the Top 3 Canadian Olympic Winter
Moments of all time. The robot orients each coin as it
moves along the production line to ensure precisely consistent
colourization. The Mint doubled the size of the colour
painting line at its Winnipeg facility to produce the required
nine million coins
."

The annual report also states that 57M non colour exist. Again point to a conclusion that Charlton is incorrect.

"To heighten consumer interest,
the Mint mixed coloured and
non-coloured versions of the Top
3 Moments coins in each roll.
Fifty-seven million non-coloured
coins were produced
."

I emailed Chariton and got Bill Cross and this is what I got,

Men's Hockey 22,000,000 ALL Types
Women's Hockey 22,000,000 All Types

He is going to make the change in the 68th Edition.

Does anyone have a further break down?

Given that 22,400,000 of each of the 12 regular Olympic quarters were minted, but only 22,000,000 Mens Hockey/Womens Hockey/Cindy Klassens, I always figured this meant that 400,000 more of each of these 3 were colourized and released - less than 2% of the total of each if my math is correct, which would make them pretty rare. The colourized-raised Mens Hockey is a fraction of that, but are there actual numbers of how many of these mistakes were released.

I bought mixed rolls from some dealer and found only 5 red ones in men's hockey roll and 6 red ones in women's hockey roll. That's little lower than the average, but mostly still match the mintage ratio.
