so I got my first box of pennies today from a bb&t bank in orlando fl! it was really awkward when the lady asked me what I was going to do with all of them. when I got back to my parents house I went through 16 rolls. I was hoping to get some beginners luck. only found 15 pennies before 82. I was starting to think that I was just searching through someone elses hunt. picked up the 17th roll and told myself this would be the last one I search today, I need a break, and this sucks... BAM. my whole search feels worth it now.

out of that whole box I found the 1910, a 57d, and a few canadian pennies :/ oh but I did find an 83 with a cool little engraving of new jersey. thought that was nifty. hoping to have better luck with the next box though.

That was a neat find. There have been a few times when the amount of copper pennies that I was finding sure was discouraging. However, I've kept at it. After you've been searching the pennies for awhile you will be finding a whole lot of different coins. I've found dimes included in the rolls plus a lot of coins from different countries. The foreign coins I keep a pill bottle just for the novelty feature.
Just out of curiousity, what courier does BB&T use? Well Fargo and Suntrust use Brinks, PNC uses Loomis but I know that there are other armored truck carriers out there such as Dunbar but I haven't found any bank that uses them.
Don't worry about beig questioned about why you want the coins, it is really just and intimidating thing from my point of view. I never tell them that I roll search, I just tell them that my boss wanted me to pick up the coins while I was on lunch. The really big stumbling question is when they ask if you have an account because some banks don't like to give coins out to non-customers. That's why I have a couple of small accounts at a few banks because I can then tell them that I am a customer, and then their attitude changes.
Seriously though, you do need to know how you're going to dump the unwanted coins. What I have been doing is rewrapping and dumping them at a different branch.
One of the items that most roll searchers try to do is to not use the same branck to pick up and dump coins at.
Right now I am averaging 25% copper from the rolls that I search.
Enjoy the roll searching and from time to time pick up a couple rolls of quarters or dimes and look for silver. It's still out there. The other thing is to ask if they are any half dollars. 64's = 90% silver with the 65 to 70 = 40% silver

thank you guys! and thats a great idea, I'm just going to say my boss asked me to pick up a box of pennies from now on XD i also managed to find a dime in one of the rolls... it was pink looking like copper. I did a little test on it with ketchup and the area that I put the ketchup on turned lighter. I'm not to sure about it so I have it set aside in a jewelry box. i think ill most likely try looking for silver coins once the penny is discontinued. seems like a lot of people are looking for silver so more pennies for me XD (trying to fill out a book of every penny minted from 1909 till now)
