Just wondering if any members will be at the show this weekend in Toronto? Be nice to put a few faces with names.

lately I haven't been going to the Torex show.

There is a possibility that I may go, if only to see a friend who is helping Louis with the auction. I boycotted Torex a few years ago, along with abandoning his coin site ... I along with quite a few others. I haven't been back since.

I've never been to Torex and have been curious as to what's there. Is it aimed for the more serious collector?

I think Torex is for serious investors and collectors (super rare coins at high grades $$$$$$$$ ) for that reason, I wont be attending. Maybe in the far future when I can afford that stuff :)

Coin Expo is a better show, for downtown Toronto.

@Bill in Burl: I agree with your comments about Torex and I've avoided the show because of all the fuss with his site.
I take a peak once in a while at the site - it's so sad to see it so empty. Anyhow, there's been some drama on privacy lately, all stirred up for nothing by the site owner.

@Coinsplus ... Yes I peak in once in a while as well there and it's a ghost of itself. There were some weekends where we would fill almost 2 pages of info/research/discussion...now almost a year to fill the first one. It was the collectors and researchers that made that site the success that it was but, once a leading dealer/auctioneer got involved and the site owner backed them, then he forgot what got him there. He just remembers who butters which side of the bread, and forgets that the sandwich tastes like crap. Almost 20 of us left the site, never to return. I also agree with SPP ... the Coin Expo is now the Toronto show(s) to attend, though no on-site pub for show-and-tell, but a Jack Astors right down the block.

I attend any show that I can in Toronto only because I live so darn close to them.

Main reason for this show is to see Louis/cccs to submit some coins for grading.
