I haven't ordered any boxes yet in my CRH life but I really wanna buy a box of pennies just to start out. My question is do I tell my bank I want to order a box of pennies or just go in and buy one right away?

Usually if you want an actual box of them you will need to order them. Getting $25 in pennies should be simple though if it's a larger bank

Some banks are fickle about releasing boxes, especially cents and halves. Some business oriented banks reserve bulk rolled coin for business customers only. The banks I do my personal banking with do not carry mass amounts of rolls and usually have to inter-office order them forma bigger branch.

So, it is really dependent upon your individual bank.

The best thing to do is simply to go in and talk with an accounts representative first about their policy regarding bulk rolled coin. This way you create yourself a liaison between yourself and the teller(s) you will be conducting your business with in the future. There is no need to get into any form of "confrontation" with the teller on your first load. ;)

Get to know your bank's policies, be polite, and it really does not hurt to let them know why you want the quantity of coin. Some banks prefer that you recycle directly with them if they are business oriented because they can re-roll and re-distribute your used coin to other customers and keep rolling out new boxes just for you.

Just go in and ask for $25 in Pennies. If they have them great, if not they will get them. Don't over think this hobby, it is really quite easy. Even a simpleton like me can figure it out.
You need to also figure things out for yourself. What I do may not work for you. The way I search may not work for you. I've spent years doing trial and error and that's the way you learn.

Ordering them is the best method; - as many boxes at one time as you can afford. This will increase your chances at acquiring a better selection of unsearched rolls.

I just emailed my bank explaining that I collect coins and am wondering if they allow bulk orders and if I could CWR's so they wouldnt have to put as much wear and tear on their coin counter. Hoping for the best!!

Yesterday at my bank:

Teller: May I help you?
Me: Do you have any half-dollar or dollar coins?
Teller: I have 16 dollar coins and 2 half dollars.
Me: Great, I'll take them. Could I get a box of pennies as well?
Teller: Sure. I'll be right back.

Teller goes to the vault and comes back with a box of pennies. I hand over $42.

Me: Thank you. Have a nice day.
Teller: You too.

Easy peasy.

You're way overthinking it. Just go in there and ask for what you want. You're the customer, they will almost always do their best to make you happy. It's a service-oriented business...
