Poll Question
I have my US Statehood Quarters all stacked in a coin tube but would like a better way to store these where they're viewable. I don't really like the cheap folders because they leave the coins open to fingerprints, plus you can only see one side. I am wondering which album you all would recommend?

I want something to store a date set (one coin per state, not one per mint). I realize Dansco is typically recommended around here, but is there a big selling point that should make me want to pay almost double the price of the Whitman version, for example?

I'd like to get a "matching" album type for the ATB Quarters as well, so please take that under consideration with your recommendations. Same story, working toward just a date set.

Poll Choices
 Dansco
 Whitman
 Intercept Shield
 Littleton
 "The Coin Collector"
 Other?

Dansco.

However, Whitman is good if you wanted to save money and the savings was significant (half, as you imply, but I do not think it is really that different).

Just my opinion. I am sure there will be others.

You're correct jbuck, the two Dansco albums would cost $35 vs $23 for the Whitman versions.

BTW, other than the album page colors (which seems to be a common preference toward Dansco), is there another key reason you prefer the Dansco over Whitman?

The Dansco album as a whole, both binder and pages, feels more solid that the Whitman albums. Not that the Whitman feels cheap, it does not, but the Dansco just has a little extra sturdiness to it.

I have more dansco than whitmans mostly because more shops have danscos than whitmans. I do not have a complaint for either of them. Get whichever is easier and most cost effective. "Easier" is normally more important to me.

The Whitman albums aren't available in my area, but are obviously for sale online. Can anyone tell me if the "height" of the Whitmans and Danscos are roughly the same (can they coexist and look "clean" on the same bookshelf)?

I think the Whitman albums are smaller, but I am not sure. It has been a while since I have compared them side-by-side.

Thanks, jbuck. I'm a bit torn whether it's even worth investing in a true "album" for these quarters. I could just pick up a folder for a few bucks and call it good. But, the thought of keeping grubby fingers off the quarters is what makes me hesitate...

For what it is worth, I have more than one Dansco album that cost me more than the coins it contains.

I think that if I was going to go with Whitman's I'd display the reverse of the coins, because that's that is interesting about this series. The obverse is not going to change at all.

I agree. I have the reverse showing on the front of the pages in my Statehood/DC/Territorial and ATB Dansco albums.

My Dansco State and ATB Quarter albums also have coin reverses displayed on the front of the pages. I know what George Washington looks like. Let's see the designs!

IMO Dansco albums are better quality then all the others. I also feel that is why most collectors prefer the Dansco albums. If the other albums were better and cost less ... then everyone would be buying those.

There are always people that want/like something different or think theirs is the best .. because that is what they have.

Of course there are some people that will go with ever is good .. but cost the least, and there is nothing wrong with that.

The bottom line is .. check them all out and pick the one you like best.

I decided to go a cheaper route and got the board book from the mint. it is the 5.50 on Amazon and the cheapest. it has slots for p&d and is quality. its just what you feel like getting, everyone is different.
