This one has been harshly cleaned but still has some amazing detail. I'm planning on using it as a pocket piece for a few months in the hopes that some honest circulation will help it out. I'm only into this for $.045, so I'm not too worried. Edited by scotty11 02/23/2013 3:49 pm

Hi Scotty, I don't think using it as a pocket piece is going to help it, my thought is, it will probably make it worse dinged up etc, I would put it on the window sill for a few months and let it tone. It doesn't look that bad now, EF-45 at least, just can notice the light scratches... but, then again I need new glasses..

I'd say it's about an XF as is.

I'm in need of new glasses myself SHAFTA9a, and I have only myself to blame for not having a pair....it's what I do for a living. I know that using it as a pocket piece will bring it down a grade or two. Some of the scratches from the cleaning are really noticeable using a loupe though. I'm going to let it rattle around with some other coppers for awhile...and then let it sit in my window sill.

No to the pocket idea, ever. Pure Vaseline and rub with thumb as often as possible; leave in window on a piece of oak or elm with the vaseline on.

For four cents...nice find. I like your plan as it looks to have MS details.

3 months of random pocket wear so far. It's been banging around against my car keys, some random copper memorials, and my Morgan pocket-piece.

Big difference. it looks like it had been cleaned pretty harsh but really toned down a lot. i'd like to see a closer shot of the coin to see how the hairlines look

Still looks cleaned, keep it in your pocket for another year.
