Strange way to perform a 'damnatio'... Most portraits would show a nasty cut in the neck. I've never seen a 'blinded' portrait before. Great find ! *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

I like them both.
The Side is much prettier but the Alexandria is quite interesting, it definitely expresses a lot of dislike.
Nice finds!

I love the second one - did Nero get an attempted Damnatio? I never knew. Someone clearly did that with purpose - and they didnt line it up fully so I'm guessing they did it to more than one.
And great to see a new guy on the forum!

Rudi! When I first saw that Tetradrachm I thought it was "holed through" but then I saw (and hopefully can be seen in the photos) that it has not cut through. I know that even today, especially in Eastern Cultures, there is the idea of the "Evil Eye". Even if this was a bodged effort to hole it, the act may have also been part of the "Damnatio" act, to be part of a Curse against Nero. What a relaxing feeling it is to own a "Cursed Coin"

The first one is beautiful, really its my kind of coin great aesthetically. The second, well I am partial to a large silver but it doesn't speak to me the way the first one does. The first one screams "BUY ME!!"
