Now lets say that 'some of you' want some specif info or pics that I might find in those 4 books that I posted here. Could I not scan the specific info and send it down the road without infringing on "copyright laws"..? or is it best to wait until 2032..?
Shouldn't there be some middle ground here to get the necessary info out there to the varieties collectors or wannabe's..
Just thinking out loud here,..that's all. Any feedback or criticism is welcome here.

Smallcentguy: I tried sending you a PM but it wouldn't go through... if you'd like, you could send me one and we can talk. Who knows? Great things may be stirring...

DEVLEC: Frankly, I would love to have the information in your books, and I think that if it was sent out to an individual or two for personal use, most of the time that would be fine. I think where it runs into a troubled area is when the person receiving it decides to publish any great amount of that information, or thoughts, opinions, or fictional text contained in the book, without authorized permission. Where the publishing of books of information gets tricky is in the information itself, and how it's presented. Anyone can gather up a bunch of coins and write a book listing all the varieties he found, just as Zoell did, but he couldn't use anything that Zoell himself invented or presented, such as Zoell's classification/numbering systems, or thoughts and/or opinions that Zoell may have included in his books, at least not without explicit written permission from the holders of the copyright. Photos are a different area of copyright, and they can't be reproduced from a copyrighted book for public consumption at all (again without express written permission). Sadly, some of that information will have to wait until 2032, or later if the copyright is extended...

2032 is beyond my limits. I won't live long enough to get Zoell's info.

My 3rd edition showing here on page 1 only has 48 pages against the 60 page book in the above ebay link. Fun to see what it goes for ...now you guys have got me interested. Some of my old 2x2 have a Zoell # on them,..so I guess that I did do a bit looking way back when.........

Just remember with the Zoell books .. each edition just adds on to the information on the earlier editions. Just getting the 4th or 5th edition doesn't get you everything and all the varieties that are there. Editions 1 & 2 were almost all-inclusive, but the numbering system was different. I'd be real careful about making copies and sending them out.

<<My 3rd edition showing here on page 1 only has 48 pages against the 60 page book in the above ebay link. >> Had to check my issue and my auction again. Yes this one has 60 pages. It is the 4th edition of Major Coin Varieties.

About 3 months ago, a friend of mine picked up a Lot of 9 of them for less than $200 at a Toronto/Hamilton auction here. You just have to look around .. Don't pay $100 for something that you can get for half or less than that.
