I haven't seen an entire rim Cud like this on both sides of a coin - ever. wow]

Hmmmm, I seem to be having a problem with uploading images that I planned to put here. But not wanting to start again with this post later, I'll submit this post and try to upload images in a minute.

Pity about the marks/damage on the obverse (any ideas what it is and how to safely remove them - acetone didn't work), but this coin might provide answers to the inner rim circle we commonly see on some recent five cent coins. After noodling this coin, I can imagine how other inner rim markings might actually be the beginning of this type of Cud.

The word "Australia" has numerous Cuds around the lettering, as well as Cuds on other areas of both sides of the coin.

Any thoughts about how this level of cudding occured and has anyone found a similar coin before?

... how embarrassing

I didn't save the optimised images to the correct folder on my computer and therefore couldn't find them to upload. So I kept repeating the optimisation process ... over and over and over again ... and still stupidly saving them ALL to the wrong location ... duh ...

Here is a bit of a zoom in on the rim Cud, face Cuds, and "Australia" lettering Cuds.

That's a beaut coin. Those marks are really odd. I had a 50c piece a few weeks ago that had the same 'spots' all over the obverse. It was in pretty good nick too and nothing I tried would remove them. Will have to see if I kept it. Coin measles?

awildeheart, I have 4 of those 2008 5 cent coins that I can lay my hands on, thought I had more.

I had ascribed it to a worn die as it's quite similar to the reverse of the 2007 50c with extra metal
all over the place, and that was caused by a worn die.

The metal around the edge is actually inside the rim, so I didn't consider it to be a rim Cud, and
the reverse is pretty much the same too.

Images below are of the most affected one, quite similar to yours, mine also has a nose Cud.
