So I was shipped out of town for work..... actually right out of province.... and so I thought I would start putting Canadian nickel album together to help pass the time. Searched my first box the other day and like usual, a full box got me off to a good start. Found basically everything from date to 1941..... but after one box I have not found 1 1991. This tells me there must be a story behind why I haven't been able to find. Mintage isn't the answer so I thought I would ask my fellow CCF members here. Thanks in advance. Cheers.

It's low mintage. Check your Charlton's.

They are out there. They just take a bit of work (like 1970 and 2000P nickels), sometimes it takes a few boxes before you find one.
Everything pre-2000 is disappearing fast thanks to the alloy recovery program. You typically find 1 or 2 pure nickel or cupronickel coins in every roll now. This is what it must have been like for silver coins hunters in the early 1970's in Canada.

 If you check E-bay listing's under 1991 (highest grades), you'll find the MS-65's for about $30.00 / I.C.C.S.. Glenn

That's funny samsnate, that you couldn't find many 1991 nickels, I have found probably 4 or 5 rolls I got stashed away..and also a few rolls of 2000P's... I thought they were quite common in boxes from the bank.

sorry if I'm bringing up this convo as an old one : 0... but I wanted to boast about my finding 15 1991 nickels, 2 1970, and I thought someone was joking about the 2000P nickel because my very first nickel I found that was 2000, I flipped it over and saw the P.... I thought they would be all over but that was my only one in 2 boxes..... and also, I had gotten a box from the bank and it looks like its been threw the alloy recovery program... machine wrapped rolls as well as all the ends being brand new... do you think its worth it to look threw them for 2000P nickels : ) ... again sorry if I should not be posting in here.... I will learn otherwise! thanks for takin the time!
