I was the under bidder on this one. I know there's a few confirmed examples like this, but, I believe this was the first one to come up for auction.

Congrats on the win t_y ...How high were you prepared to go on this one?

Offcentre type 1 occurs in all years; broadstrucks are known for 96, 99 and 2001. Pinched - the first I saw in the wild.

Vance, if you are attending NUPHILEX or the CoinExpo, we can have a coffee together and chat about twoonies and errors.

Wouldn't this be just an off center struck twoonie . Since it is a 96 it would be on a pre assebled planchet .Here is another similar example - on the bottom of the page :

Was mine at one time .

I don't think the center is bored off center . I think it was a normal planchet that was struck off center . It could of been a Canadian two piece planchet and the core settled in the hole before being struck off center .

I agree with ty on the core bored off centre, but it is off center not broad struck.IMO Too far off to be broad struck. Wonderful coin ty!! Once you have it in hand new pics I hope.

With the coin on hand "diagnose" may change.

It is to be sent express post, so I hope to have it between tomorrow and early next week.

t_y...Thanks for the offer, but sadly I live on the East coast (Halifax). I will be attending the RCNA convention when it comes here in 2014.

I agree that this is a German prefab that was struck off center. In the coinscan example, I would like to speculate that the strike through grease area is actually a partial clip.
