John, even this ol' buzzard picked up something from this article. I've seen 'the '42S w/'41 rev, but it was decades ago.

Thank you for the link. The Jefferson nickel was my first coin series to start collecting in about 1964. I still have some of my original finds from back then. Unfortunately, I never found the key dates in circulation. I did find quite a few War Nickels, but never really saved extras since they weren't worth much over face back then.

Good article, thanks John.
parapet, I've noticed more silver nickels in my change lately. I've come across 3 so far this year.

John, While it is always nice to see pictures of coins, it is equally nice to read about them. Thank you for the contribution.
The info about the machines which accepted nickels was particularly informative to me. Given the purchasing power of "pocket change," any disruption to its use would have crippled the work force in the US and hurt the War Effort.

Loved this article. I guess I am partial as the lowly Jefferson is my favorite coin. Need more info on the 42-S with 41 rev. I also have never heard of it. I guess it is research time. Thanks again for the great link!!
