Here is another one of my Half Dimes. This one graded by NGC. Photos make it look rust colored, its just the lighting in order to capture some luster.

Very nice Half Dime! I'll guess AU55 but honestly I can't see it well enough to go higher. It certainly could be an MS piece.

Fantastic coin, just awesome
I'm in at AU53, I wanna doubt it dips to 50 and I don't think that's wear off the legs and breast as much as its the lighting
Either way, suh-weet!

I'm exactly with BH1964 on this one AU55 with current photos. Sounds like one really needs this one in hand to give it a twirl under a lamp and catch the luster the camera can't. A lot can hide under toning, good and bad. Other than potential wear (I just can't tell), the rims sure look nice, it's that little tick on the arm of Liberty bugs me. However, I too, could see a Mint State grade from NGC on it. Probably MS62, if they were so inclined.

dsfreeworld and supdog are the winners. This one brought home AU-53.

Westcoin, the rims are superb, but that arm tick is distracting as you pointed out. This one is great because the darker toning makes me believe the surfaces are original and haven't been messed with.

Thanks for posting EFLargeCents! These are great looking coins you've been putting up, I love testing myself against the graders, and at a disadvantage by not having the coin in hand, with great photos like this we can get pretty close to the top tier TPG's is seems.

Thanks westcoin. I've been learning a great deal from the comments to my postings! I really need to improve my photography though, I am limited in that and would rather spend money to buy more coins than take photos, so I have to get creative. I sometimes use a 16x loupe placed over the lens of my iPhone to force it to macro.

I have another Half Dime I will be posting in the next week or so, an old ANACS graded one that looks fantastic, might be graded a bit on the conservative side. The Half Dimes have been my focus lately as I am putting together an AU seated type set and decided to start there. Two more to go for my US type set too, but grade isn't as important for that as much as a better date and eye appeal (like the 1842-O).
