I went to one of my local banks this afternoon looking particularily for star notes in any denomination (but hopefulle in $100). The conversation that I had with the telling seemed to be of special interest.

The teller said that they were seldom seen (which I expected) but that they do go first and the tellers usually get first crack at them (again what I expected).

So I figure that the only way that I am going to get a star note is to either buy them at a premium or hopefully from a sympathetic and friendly teller who is willing to work with me to so I can get to my goal. So I did talk to a teller that I work with to set aside SBA and Sac dollars for me. She did say that she'd try to help out.

So I'm wondering how some have collected the star notes that you have in your collections?

Further, ever had any luck on swapping bills at the bank in hopes of getting a star note?

I have got most of mine counting fundraising money. I figure if your bank would let you, trading for say 50 ones could bring in some pretty nice finds. Also, check out the $100 star note thread. Someone on there said they had one you could have for $100.

I didn't realize you authored that until just now.
You might try to trade with the people that say they are sending theirs back to the bank. Maybe they could let you trade for it and only pay shipping. Shipping shouldn't cost very much. Totally could probably be at about $105 I think if they let you have it at face.

I cash my ck at my main bank, in all 1's, search them, tradethem for bill bills at work, and then get 5s and 1s from second bank, search them, and then soend them. And all my tellers save"funny money" for.me too, whicb always helps

I have yet to fimd a $50 or $100 star note in the wild.

Ghostrider, if you have some cool coins (worth about $100 altogether) that you're willing to trade to me for my $100 star note, private message me, and we can probably work something out.
That way, we're both happy

Both the offer and my response to the offer in the previous thread are gone. Author of offer either didn't have sufficient postings b/c in any event he was unable to receive a pm.

In any event I'll keep trying. No biggee.

My star note set, all from circulation, is complete except for the $100.

The $2 I have is very nice, otherwise they're all fairly pedestrian. I have two $50's, but just one $20, even though I get my ATM withdrawls in $20's. I've probably handled fifty to one hundred times as many $20's as $50's.

I've got a pile of ones.

- I also have a note that has an X at the end of the serial number. What is that? I've been meaning to ask.

The X is just the serial number advancing down the alaphabet. Every time the numbers start over at 00000001, thenletter changes. It starts with A. Then B and so on. They don't always make it that far through the alphabet, so some people like to collect the collect these later notes with the letters V, W, X,Y. I'm not sure what kind of premium they could bring.
Z is only used on experiment notes and specimen notes.thats alm I know.

I usually have found Star notes and I must say most of them from the bank. I will say $2 and $1 Bills but I bought many packs of 100 to find em. My best find from the bank was a pack of 1976 Bicentennial Star notes that a teller saved for me. I have bought a few packs online only when I find a decent price. As far as the larger bills I have found 1 $50, 4 $5 and 2 $20 Never a $100. Bought A red seal one off of ebay and paid for it! he he Oh Well live and learn I always say. It wasn't that much but enough. Maybe in another 20 years I might break even. But I wanted it! Does really look nice though.

I have some I can let go. I also have the $100 star note (circ)I can let go.

I once asked a teller to watch for star notes for me. When I went back she had about a load of them. I picked up 2 $100, 2 $50 and some others that looked decent.

The only star note I have ever found through all my looking is one I bought that is a framed and mounted uncirculated $1 star note from the Fort Worth mint. If I didn't love $2 bills so much, it would easily be my favorite bill.

Just went to the bank the other day and was shopping when I was going to pay and noticed I had a $20 dollar Star note. Of course I didn't spend it. Was in excellent shape with only a light fold in it. Still going to keep it.

I live in Switzerland and for my holidays in New York I went to my bank and changed Swiss Francs into US Dollars.
At home I discovered, that I got 10 uncitculated 2009 10 Dollar Starnotes. I was really happy about this find.
