Quick short question. What exactly is a proof coin mean? I see AU and BU grading but what is a proof coin exactly, especially in Coin Roll Hunting when all coins are circulated?
Proof is a method of manufacture. Proof coins will find their way into circulation. They are and always will remain a proof coin. Then they become an "impaired" proof.
The 1895 Morgan dollar, a proof-only issue, can be found in various states of wear. BUT, they are and will always remain a proof due to the manufacturing method.
This is the short answer to a short question. Grasp this, and further details will be easily understood.
