I recently came across this 1828 Half Cent that is Off Center Struck. It is an easy AU grade. I have seen only one other I was able to find online in Chanell Coins Private collection but there was no info on it. Any one have an idea of value and rarity? Thanks all.

Steve

There have been a fair number of these in various auctions, I don't have off hand with me as I'm travelling, but I believe a going price is around $5500-10K is about right. Here is an AU from Heritage it sold at $7500 in 2008.

A lot of the off center Half Cents I ve seen in auction sold for $800-2500 but rarely ever above VF condition. An AU which that appears to be, is amazing.

Speaking of amazing off center errors check this one out off center on clipped planchet!
