I'm selling a few coins for a friend and found this in the lot. I want to buy it, but want to know what you guys think a grade and fair price for both of us would be. Thanks! Edited by noahs-numismatics 03/06/2013 09:25 am

Looks to be low to mid range AU. For pricing try numismedia site.

I agree w/ the AU53-AU55 grade, but it looks like an 1852, not 1862. Very nice coin in what appears to be original condition. Pricing from $140-$165 on numismedia.

 , that's a 1852 3 cent. Lovely coin.

With these pictures, I am at high XF - low Au details. Looks like there is a hit on the obverse 6 o'clock'ish.
Nice example!

I agree with CoinsKelly on this one, I'm at high EF to possibly low AU.. And a details grade due to the good hit around 6. Still a very nice thrime with good origional surfaces. Hope you come to an agreement with your friend!

Beautiful coin! That reminds me, I don't have a 3c silver-- going to add it to my CCF Want List right now :)

Quote: And a details grade due to the good hit around 6. A TPG shouldn't put a details grade on a coin due to a hit or tick, details are used for cleaning, surface damage like corrosion, AT or fake color, whizzing, tooling, but I can't say I've ever seen a details grade on a coin due to a circulation hit.

I was thinking details due to possible surface issues but did note the hit. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that point.
