Hi. I don't know if this is the right place for this question. A friend of mine has a large number of Canadian coins and Euro coins, and would like to redeem them for US currency. Local banks will only exchange bills, not coins. He asked me where to take them, but I have no idea. Does anyone have any suggestions about where I could redeem the coins?

Thanks.

If you have an international airport or an international border crossing station near you, they'll have a currency exchange.
Don't know if they'll do coins, but that's my only guess... Good luck.

For all practical purposes you can't. Foreign exchange businesses as a rule do not exchange coins. Yes the second link listed above does exchange coins for a few currencies, but you will be giving up anywhere from 25 to 60% of the face value at their conversion rates plus the shipping costs.
Rest in Peace

Conder101, Canadian coins can be exchanged at any bank local to Canada. Not sure if this was clear. Sorry if I'm wrong.

By the way,

One solution, Buy them from him at the fair price.
If you stick around here long enough, and make enough good posts, you will be allowed to horse trade them here on CCF.

Coin dealers that deal in foreign coins will often buy and sell foreign coin for face or near-face value, but such dealers might be pretty thin on the ground in your friend's area. As a general rule, nobody in the money-changing business wants to bother with the small stuff.

If you can't find a nearby coin dealer who will accept them and your friend isn't planning on travelling to either of those places anytime soon, then your only options are a bulk dump on ebay or some other sales venue (for only a fraction of face value) or waiting until you hear of a friend or relative that is going to be visiting those places, and give/sell the coins to them.

Still looks like you are giving up 25 to 40% of the value plus postage. Unless you have over $800 worth in which case they will pick up the postage cost.
