Okay, I have a few questions for you half dollar enthusiasts out there:

First, I have 48 bicentennial halves I have found CRHing. Should I sell them, keep them, or spend them at face value? If I should sell them, what would be a reasonable price?

Second, I have 18 beautiful AU/BU 40% halves I found a few months ago CRHing. How much should I sell them for, and where, or should I just keep them until silver rises again?

Third, I have a 1974-DDO I found a while back. What is the going price on those, and where do you usually go to sell them?

Finally, can someone please tell me about the various 40% varieties?

All advice is welcomed and appreciated.
Happy Hunting!

Well, I can at least answer that the bicentennials are spenders. They are very, very common, and you can get some fun reactions from people when you spend 'em :D

And personally I'd keep the 40%ers.

The 76 ers you might get a small premium for if they are in really good shape, but not much to speak of.

The 40% coins. If they are AU or better, you may get more than melt for them. If they are anything less than that, melt is the best you will get. You need a dealer that deal in bullion sales to cash in on them if they are the lower condition coins. And you won't get full melt. Right now melt on a 40% is 4.27. So if you got 3.50 or so a piece you would be doing good for low grade coins.

An XF 74 DDO is 35.00 FRV.

Bicentennials are very common as mentioned before . I probably come across dozens of them for every box I check. Didn't they make them in 1975 & 1976?

Only the dollars had two varieties, the first being minted in 1975, the second in 1976.

For half dollars, there was only one variety, but they were indeed minted in 1975 and 1976.

kennedyhalfdollars.com has a list of the errors/varieties, but no pics

Click on the errors button at the top and then choose your desired dates to the left under the "From CONECA" section.

edited to add "From CONECA" info

People might pay a premium for a roll of uncirculated bicentennial half dollars, but if you just plan on getting enough from circulation to make a full roll, then I doubt you would get much of a premium

No problem. I will excuse it. Your mind may be preoccupied with Eisenhower dollars. That is a good thing, in my opinion.

A friend of mine had an antique mall space and I used to sell Bicentennial halves out of it for $1.00. Of course, they were in terriffic shape, but still, all the people who bought them had to do was go to the bank and find them in rolls, just like I did. They flew off the shelf. I never understood it.

And that's just the thing, there's always going to be someone out there willing to buy them. Some profit is better than none right.
