i have here one gold mutilated coin and several damaged silver coin.
need some help from you.
how do buyers appraise these metals.
could someone direct me? really need to know, since I am an amateur collector I guess the knowledge is of importance.
had visited some buyers here and here is a sample equation they used
they get gram weight(G) and water weight(WW) then;
G minus WW=A then;
G divided by A = SP multiply to 1010(basing)= price of the item
what is SP and Basing?
is gold bought this way? I am confused also that when I made some web browsing it is priced by ounce.
basing I learned is what determines the current price.
tried several magazines but I still do not understand.
about silver, one just get its weight then multiply to its current price (21pesos/gram)..
need some enlightenment.javascript:insertsmilie('')

thank you very much!

As far as my understanding goes...
a 1 ounce .999 gold whatever is worth what the market value is for that day. With today being about $679 per ounce. This is called the "melt value" or "bullion value"

CC Members please correct me if I'm wrong. Still learnin stuff myself.

Got pictures? I'm all about the mutilated coins!
