? why is the last prefix 2006 twenty dollar note so underrated when it come's to a sell price, if people only studied the facts on the print runs it's very clear!

What's with 2008 JC08 notes selling on ebay for over one hundred at a time? there's one millon out there people!

$20 notes

PE94 - LP - 179,999
DA95 - LP - 753,499
DA96 - LP - 818,999
GB97 - LP - 206,999
DA98 - LP - 880,499
KM02 - LP - 598,999
DA03 - LP - 991,999
GB05 - LP - 999,999
JC06 - LP - 209,999
JC07 - LP - 999,999
JC08 - LP - 999,999
DA10 - LP - 840,999

after looking at the above JC06 & GB97 have very similar print runs!! think about the last time your saw a GB97 for sale!!

I no which twenty dollar note I'm investing in.

Its not all about print runs. Its about how many are available to collectors.

In the 1990s the RBA didn't announce what the last prefix was. Hence not many of them were collected and they became rare.
On the other hand, the RBA now issue first and last prefixes once a year to collectors. So even though JC06 $20 has a low print run, there are a lot of UNC held by collectors. They will never be as rare as 1990s first and last prefixes.

Just on that, does anyone know when the RBA started selling the first and last prefixes?

The RBA usually announce in June that they will be available between late July and late August.

It will be interesting to see what happens this year given that some 2012 notes are already in circulation.

Mob, I'm pretty sure they started selling them to the public in 2009 (2008 notes).
Prior to that they were sold through Downies (generally special serials like solids, radars & etc.)
