I didn't realize the article was going to be on ancient coins. When my aunt had died my mother was cleaning out her closet and found small amounts of change in some of her shoes. I believe she did this for emergency bus fare or payphone change to call for help. God only knows how long those Mercury dimes and Liberty nickels were in those shoes.

Once, I found 22 Morgan and Peace dollars rolled up into an old tube sock. This was stuffed in an a old cardboard punchbowl box and was in one of the slots for a punchbowl cup. You just never know.
