In my opinion, I don't think so, but I am far from an expert on errors. I think that the nickel just fell down hard .. or someone else fell down hard on him.

I have a few old nickels, but I'm not fortunate enough to have any with that rare feature.

Bill, did you notice where the seller is?

That coin has been listed forever. I don't think that it will ever sell......and for good reasons too. I have to wonder if sellers like this actually beleive that it is what they say it is, or if they are just trying to rip someone off.

I am new to this forum but the nickel listed is indicated as having a die clip. Can someone point me in the direction of what a die clip is? The reason I ask is that I have a 2012 new toonie where a portion of the edge has been chipped off. So at the location of the chip the serrations are only partial from one side to where the chip begins on the edge. Initially I thought that this was something that happened to the coin not related to minting but I noticed that the edge lettering that was supposed to be in that area even in the portion where there are serrations in tact is missing.

I need to learn how to take pictures of the edge before I can post a picture here. But in the meantime are there other pictures that show such things?

Hello Paisa

There is previous posts here of clips and such...good information that can help you out... also coinsandcanada.com might help you with there "price guide" section...or "errors and varieties" section...I'm still in the process of learning myself and maybe someone better qualified can help you out with this. Good luck

Jerry B ... How dare that guy besmirch my town! Burlington is a high-tech and bedroom community for Toronto, around 200K population. I never knew that there was an ebay coin seller from here .. a few in Hamilton/Stoney Creek, 4-5 in Toronto, and a couple in Oakville. Believe me, it ain't me. I'll snoop around and see if I can educate the man/lad.
