I've been trying to take more quality photos recently. I have a Nikon coolpix L12 camera. I'm now use a stand and use the timer on the camera. Things are working much better but I have trouble with color. The camera will take one photo with fairly true colors then the next photo will have a orangish tint to it, with no changes in settings. It's seems I can't duplicate the same picture twice. Automatic macros or the close up setting is turned on, fyi.

Just wondering is there an easy step or fix for this issue?

Sounds like a white balance issue of some sort.

Your camera has seven white balance modes, including white balance preset. Try using the white balance preset. If you don't have a standard 18% grey card, you might be able to get by with using a white sheet of paper for pre-set calibration. Check your manual for the procedure.

Good luck
