Many of my ASEs are in air tights which takes up a lot of space, and I don't know how to store them. Right now they are just flopping around in a box. They are not all the same size air tights too. I asked at my LCS today and he said to take them out of the air tights and put them in those square plastic tubes. These are just regular issue ASEs from over the years, not proofs. How does everyone store their coins that are in Air Tight?

If you want to keep them in airtites, you could put them in cap-tubes. Use size H for direct fit airtites, and size I for airtites with the foam ring. The cap-tubes hold 20 coins and are reasonably priced. You can find them on ebay or at retailers like Provident or APMEX. I had a good experience ordering from this seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Cap-Tube-...em3f1c212066I also store some of my different world bullion series in the plastic 2x2 sheets in a binder. Each page can hold 20 coins in airtites, or you could get the 2.5x2.5 sheets to hold 12 coins with foam airtites. As far as ASEs go, I have a Dansco that I keep one coin for each year in, and the rest I keep in the mint issued tubes.

... with SDCrow about the Cap Tubes. They're also available from Provident at a pretty reasonable price. If you've got a high-class collection of ASEs that's close to worth being graded, that'd be a good way to go. I don't give mine that TLC level of treatment and storage, though. I got a used empty US Mint monster box with US Mint ASE tubes and that's where my ASEs go. I also got a RCM monster box with tubes and that's where the CSMs, Philharmonics and 90's Libertads all go. The boxes+tubes didn't cost too much, and it'll take me a long time to fill them both up. I like them because they provide segregated and organized storage for the four main coins I hoard and I think the quality of the storage they provide is more than adequate for my purposes. The tubes are reasonably air-tight, so I think toning should be held at bay.

Below is a link for the tubes that I use. They are really inexpensive and are high quality ASE tubes. ASE)" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.amazon.com/Domagron-Coin...EAGLES+( ASE)

The tubes that they come in are OK but the fit so snug it makes it hard to take them out. When I get them in the original tubes, I leave them in these tubes. They make a clear plastic tube with screw cap and these work well too.

MikeAlaimo,
Welcome to this forum and thanks for your link.
Those are the tubes I was thinking of. Any LCS would probably have these too.

I had a couple mint tubes of 1987 ASEs tone quite a bit on the edges over the years. I don't store silver in tubes anymore.

@GoThunder---Thanks for that info. Those tubes are reasonably air-tight, but not totally so. I had always wondered about the long-term consequence of the monster box+mint tube storage system. Thanks again, because now I know!
This definitely settles one thing, too -- after I buy the old farm, my heirs are going to find themselves confronted with a good-sized pile of edge-toned ASEs, CSMs, Phils and 90's Libs!

I store mine in a pile. I am going to have to try one of those holders though. Make them easier to move around.

All mine are proofs or burnished and are in the bulky mint boxes.

I typically pick one nice example of each bullion coin I get, place it an an air tight, then into a regular 20 pocket (2 x 2 inch pockets) page. The rest stay in tubes or in reused 2x2 pvc-free flips.
For display, dansco albums are also quite nice. I have a nearly complete set of 1 oz maples in one.

All my ASE are in air tites as well, and I keep them in a 2 X 2 red rigid cardboard box that I got at the LCS they come single row or double row. Easy to stack in my safe.

I like airtights because they are slippery to each other which makes them much more gentle to dive into than bare coins. What is lost though is the clink sound of precious metal when I swim around in it.

I picked up an album that will hold the direct fit airtites, been using that to store my ASE's.
