It seems like there is a lot of extra metal around the rim and sharp to the touch is this PMD or some type of error or variety?

Spooned!
Take a penny, put the edge down on hard surface, tap the rim on top with a sturdy spoon while rotating the coin.

Im not sure what you mean. If you look at it under magnification it just seems like it has a very long rim its also thicker than other pennies

DBM I looked at the link and it seems the same but all around. Look I'm not stubborn if its PMD or a drier coin I would accept that but I'm almost curtain this is not PMD. There in no indication of tools or anything else. It would take someone days to pull something like this off.
Maybe I should post closer pictures...
