Do the majority of bill collectors remove graded currency from its holder, as most (it seems) do with coins when displaying in an album?
Unlike coins, I know there are albums to put graded bills in, but when one has both raw and graded in a series, I would think you would like to keep them together.
Thanks in advance for opinions.

You cannot remove notes from a holder without cutting the side of the holder as graded notes are in plastic sleeves, laminated shut. I think in opening it up to remove and replace the note, it takes away the authenticity of that note and cancels out the 3rd party grade.

Agreed with what BisonMatt and nationals have said. We currency collectors generally keep them in their TPG holders. These holders usually add value to the note and the assigned grade by a professional allows collectors to instantly estimate the value of the note. I would always keep them in their holders unless you wanted to regrade the note sending it to a third party grading service.

I agree with the above. They sell pages that will hold graded notes. So if you want to have a raw and a graded note together, you can. Graded note pages have 2 pockets and you can put both into the same page.

The 2 pocket pages work perfectly for TPG banknotes and other larger sized holders. You definitely don't want throw away the TPG value by cutting it out to remove the note!

Thanks Everyone for the input. I was "assuming" that since most coin collectors remove graded coins from TPG holders to display in albums, it would be fine with currency as well. As far as albums, the HE Harris albums look like the best choice for graded and raw bills alike. Does anyone know if the pages for small, large and graded notes are the same size and will fit in any of the HE Harris currency albums? Thanks.

From my experience most coin collectors, including me, do not crack the coins out of slabs to put in an album. The ones doing this are usually trying to fill in a type set album. In any case, once it's out of the slab it's the same as with paper - it's no longer authenticated or TPG graded, which will cause the now uncertified value to decrease, and make selling at a good price more difficult in the future. Keeping the TPG labels with the album is no longer any proof of grade or authenticity.

mackwork "Keeping the TPG labels with the album is no longer any proof of grade or authenticity." That maybe true for coins, but not for currency as each note has a unique serial number and that is on the TPG holder as well. You can match them.
