Small size there are two that I use. Robert Azpiazu's Collector's Guide to Modern Federal Reserve Notes Series 1963 to 2009 - Whitman and John Schwartz / Scott Lindquist Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money 1928 to Date - Krause. First is modern FRN only and second is all small size.

I use A guide book of United States Paper money by Arthur L. and Ira S. Friedberg. Has both large size and small size with prices, great reference.

I have Paper Money of the United States by Arthur L & Ira S Friedburg as well as the Standard Guide to Small-Size US Paper Money by John Schwartz / Scott Lindquist. Paper Money of the US is out of date, latest edition was published 2001, I wouldn't go off the prices there but it's a handy reference. The small size guide is still updated, just get the latest edition (in which I am listed as a contributor! ) The Standard Catalog of US Paper Money by Cuhaj & Brandimore is also good, there is a current edition and it has both large and small size notes.

You definitely need the Schwartz and Lindquist book. Your definitely need the latest edition of United States Paper Money by Friedberg. You probably want the Kelly national bank notes book, and it never hurts to have any of the Confederate guides.
