I'm not convinced this is a genuine piece.

Definitely a strange wear pattern, It looks almost intentional. The hits around the T make me wonder if it was completely "wrong".

I'm glad it didn't sell. It has been "strengthened".

The seller does at least acknowledge the problem in the questions section: Q: The numbers in the date are way too large for this to be genuine. Also, the S-4 variety has a period after the Y in LIBERTY and a period after the 3 in the date. I guess it's possible someone added/enhanced the date as it is and the coin is otherwise genuine...? Who certified it as genuine for you? A: Thanks for the questions. I bought this coin from Chuck Furjanic. The date has indeed been tooled. You can see where copper has been removed and the date has been placed. As for the S-4 on the slab, Mr. Furjanic informed me of a period after the "Y", which I was able to see once the coin was in hand . Of course, due to the alteration of the date, no period is present there. The size is accurate, and the vines and bars are present on the edge of the coin. I placed the coin in the Coin World slab you see in the pictures. I would be happy to post pictures of the edge of the coin if you wish. Thanks again for your questions.
