I would really like everyone I can get opinion on this coin. 1895-S PCSG MS64 Morgan Here's my issue, When I compare this coin to pictures of every other 1895-S 64 I can find I feel that mine looks noticeably better. It hasn't been a big deal to me before, but now I am thinking about selling and there is a whole lot of difference in price between a 64 and a 65. Please take a look at the pics and I will post a link to a picture of a comparable, tell me what you would do? Try and have it regraded etc.? Also feel free to tell me "No it's just a 64 let go of the pipe dream". Thanks in advance for your help! Here's a comparable: http://www.coinfacts.com/silver_dol...r_dollar.htm

I don't think that this coin can make 65, unless those tiny nicks photographed are in the slab. One way to find out: Hold the slab at a shallow angle to a light source. If those marks aren't directly under the surface of the slab, they must be on the outside of the slab.

Thos ehits on the reverse in the right side field between the eagles wing and the wreath are too pronounced to allow a 65.

I think MS-64 is as high as this coin would grade. Nice coin BTW!

I took the picture in shadow with over head light source so it would make the imperfections show on the the lower resolution pictures. But the nicks are not as distracting as they look in the picture, but I see everyone's point. There are some slab marks: left wing just below half way up just above the T in States in front of lips just at back of neck and below P in Pluribus
I mean, I know it's not a 65 if it were a common. But you guys don't think I might have a shot at 65 with say NCG?

I just look at my last post and had to chuckle a little. I realize I sound a little like a mother who only sees the best in her children. lol Give me a second to wipe away a tear or two and accept it is a 64... lol
So would you guys bother having it reslabbed before sale? It is a little beat up and would probably show better in photos and in person.

Disclaimer: I don't own any slabbed coins so my opinion is an inexperienced one.
It comes down to cost. Take the costs of shipping the coin and grading fees. Now, if the coin is graded one level higher (MS65), will you make more than those fees?
What if the grade comes back the same---or even worse (if that's possible)?!?
In my opinion, since it is already slabbed I would sell it as-is.

Life is full of risks. You can only but try for a re slab, but I guess it could be hard to beat the supposed professionals, for which we pay a fee. I fully understand where you are coming from. The question: Does the relatively small fee justify the small chance of a big up grade in terms of price, despite a supposed professional opinion already being expressed? We do not have a vested interest in the upgrade so we are, in way, amateur TPG'ers, of varying ability. We don't accept a fee. The decision has to be yours.

I don't think this coin would upgrade to a 65.

Since PCGS is considered the Number 1 grading Service, and the grading the grader service that CAC does for both PCGS and NGC, before re-submitting it to PCGS in hopes of a higher grade, you may want to have this sent to CAC and see if it qualifies for one of their little football shape stickers. If it receives a sticker I'm sure it would sell between 64 & 65 money (and may grade up a point if re-submitting to PCGS), should it come back without a CAC sticker, I don't think it would be upgraded (IMO).
