Unfortunately, I am at EF-45. The hair above the ear looks worn and doesn't seem to be entirely from strike. The luster is more AU-50ish than EF-45 and given your reaction, that is where I suppose it graded.

I think you all will be in for a bit of a shock on this one. It's NCG AU 55!! I had thought that it was a bit of an over grade I thought 50, but I am a total novice. The cleaned comments worry me though. Can anyone give me some concrete things to look for to either rule out or confirm that it's cleaned

All the little fine lines on the obverse are from cleaning, I dont think this has any luster left, think its just the lighting, severe dip as well look at the original luster around the date, the bottom of the hair, and around all letters on reverse

They always say buy the coin, not the holder, and unfortunately here At least from these photos I would say XF details. Perhaps it is the light. Can you post some additional pics?

Unfortionitly I'm also at EF-45 details on this one. I'm actually surprised NGC gave it an AU-50. I also agree that it may have been cleaned for the reasons Kman stated. I'd also like to see some more pics of it. Again, I'm kind of surprised NGC would miss a cleaning, so I'd like to see some more, closer pics and maybe from a few angles also.
Still a nice looking Morgan!

This is where lack of quantity effects grade, which I think is B.S. Especially for Morgan's, if there were only 3 known what would they do make one MS, one AU and the last EF, do I make sense? Hahaha

I have a similar situation on a my 1895-S MS64 it's an old grading and WAY nicer than every other 1895-S MS64 I have scene. I feel like sending it in for a regrade to see if I can get a 65 based on rarity even though it's a 64.
