Hi,

I have attached four different photos of this silver dollar:

1) an obverse side using diffused lighting and then side-located axial lighting and

2) a reverse side also using diffused lighting and then side-located axial lighting.

Please note how the axial shots bring out the minor bag marks as well as the pinwheel luster both of which are virtually absent using diffused lighting.

Please assign a grade and opine on whether it would be worth it or not to have it graded and slabbed by a TPG.

I was hoping to reach a grade of MS65 since the price jumps rather dramatically at this level but do not know yet if this coin meets the requirements for that level etc.

Thanks,
mdpmedia

I will say AU-58 for this coin. Not much wear evident but the obverse fields have the look of an AU coin.

Bit of a slider could possibly make MS-62/MS-63 but I think AU is the safer assumption

I agree with Fenton, could be an AU-58. But it could also go MS-62/63. IMO opinion 65 is way out of the question though.. Again, 63 is the highest I see this one going.. Nice Morgan though! One of the mints I still need!

I see an AU-55. The luster in the fields appears to be disturbed by friction. I think MS is unlikely.
Rest in Peace

I agree with everyone above. AU55 or ms63 tops if actually uncirculated. Tough call from the photos.
