Poll Question
There hasn't been a lot of talk about the 2010 rotated die 50c of late. This latest offering on the bay seems a tad ambitious, but perhaps it represents an updated estimation. 330889605564Thought we might have a poll to liven up the topic and perhaps gauge their rarity. Blackmamba, you might be interested in the results here when it's done.

I have two of them but I have not found either of them. One came trough a trade with a member here and the other was an extremely generous gift from another member. I absolutely love them both! Its a very cool type of error. I value them around the $70-100 mark, $999 is crazy!

Dreaming for sure.........maybe $99. I love this variety, and have just the one that I noodled off ebay - but am keenly looking for more, one of the main varieties I keep an eye out for in the 50c Seems harder to find than the rotated 2001 dollars - I've found 3 of these.

I think they are a fantastic error. I actually remember thinking "What if they put the dies in the wrong position on the 50c coin. That would be a special error coin!" many years ago, and now it has happened. Since this is quite a big error by mint staff, I think this error has the potential to become very sought after. It is similar to the "dollar mule" in that there was an error made when installing the die. I think this particular error is unlikely to happen again as we have had this shape 50c coin since 1969 and this error has only happened once. Having said all that, I think $999 is too ambitious, but I will be watching to see what happens with this coin from this seller.

Okay, I have none, I haven't noodled for them, but only checked change in the cash register at work (& we don't tend to use many 50c pieces in change). As for rarity? Hmm...it'll be one of those coins that gets right through the system for years to come. $100 for choice unc would be reasonable. To me they seem too hard to find, unless if you're going through rolls of 2010 coins. With the rotated $1 centenary & the millenium incuse, at least you can pick out all those coins & then go one by one. By with the 2010 50c rotated coin...to me it's another COA...so much harder to filter through.
Would I like one? Yes of course I would, but the importance of it? Hmm...will we ever see it in a catalogue? No, just like we haven't seen the $1 rotated centenary coin, because to me, it's more of an error, rather than a variety.

Because this coin has a set rotation, unlike previous years/denominations it has the potential to develop into a very well known coin.

No great surprise that it did not sell.
I guess the only choices for the seller are 1. List again. 2. Hold on to it.
I wonder what they will do now?

My noodling find of the "rotated 50 cent" was uncanny . Back in March of 2012. The day after CCF member "Australian Coin" noddled his, and posted this on CCF !. Talk about a "lucky streak" ! It occupies a very special place in my coin collection . Squire
