I am new to the coin collecting game but I was at work the other day opening a new roll of nickels and stumbled upon this coin. It is the louis and clark 2005 nickel and I have included a pick with a normal one, and the one I found. On the word view, you can see an "O" stamped in one. It almost looks like the same O, just like it may have been transferred to the wrong die or something. Or the more likely scenario, I am a complete newb and this is just someones engraving work or something. But under a loop, it looks stamped.
BTW ignore the date stamp, I will take more pictures later, but I am heading out for work.
I can see the ring. Looks like it took a hit in that area. It is incuse, so it is PMD. If it were raised it would be a die issue. Not part of the design. Added to later.
Hey guys, thanks for all your time and help. I figured it was probably not rare but I wanted to know for sure as it doesn't look like someone tried to make it happen. Here are some more pictures, forgive me if I could not figure out the white coloration you asked about.
Hi and Great photos, dude! I've never seen before, how does the obverse look? Maybe someone else could help.sorry. Looks cool, though. I love the Westward Journey series, esp. the 2005 buffs. ever find any "speared buffaloes"? -joey
