1898-O VAM 4A? - Coin Community Forum

srs77 Pillar of the Community United States 3241 Posts	Posted 03/21/2013 2:30 pm While the debate goes on with my 1904-O I picked this 1898-O up recently and found what may be VAM 4A? I don't know if these pictures will show enough but as usual I can take more if necessary. I should also state, the reverse has a die break from the 'O' in One upwards through the 'E' in United so from 7 o'clock up to 9:30... Any help is appreciated... The first two pics have attributes similar to what is at http://www.vamworld.com/1898-O+VAM-4A here. But the third pic I can't quite make it out. srs77 Pillar of the Community United States 3241 Posts	Posted 03/21/2013 7:47 pm I think you are correct on the close date. I didn't even notice that and it was right in front of me, sheesh.. Here's a closeup. The bulge on the reverse is hard for me to see between the tail feathers and bow. I think there is also no question about the high mint mark on this one so now it's just determining which VAM it is... Here's a full obverse and reverse shot as well..
