I recently got this (and another similar) and was surprised. I guess I hadn't been aware that Peace dollars could have proof like finishes.

Am I just a n00b, or is this common?

Is this coin PL? DMPL? Are these rare?

That Peace dollar has been polished, it is not PL or DMPL which is almost unheard of for Peace dollars. Notice the "halo" around the letters and in the protected areas? Those are areas that were not touched by the polishing.

I should have noticed that. In hand that polishing is hard to see. But once one knows what it look for, it's obvious.
