There is a 1916D Mercury dime someone is selling on NGC Money marketplace. It is AG3 graded by NGC. What would be a good price to pay for this coin in your opnion? He is asking $550 or best offer. Thanks

That is about what they usually go for. Personally I like the AG3's that show the entire "D"
as apposed to the AG3's that show just the top of the "D".
In other words it depends on the coin.

$550 sounds pretty good but if he started at that, maybe try some negotiating and see if he won't budge a little.

Looking at a couple auction records and ebay sales and it seems like they are roughly selling for between $425-475.
With no pictures posted, it can be hard to judge what the coin is worth. I went over there to see the coin for my self. It is a very nice example, a strong AG and bordering on G. You might have to pay on the high end to above the range that I gave to get that example.
I noticed the combination of the username and the coin seem eerily familiar. So I did a little digging and I think you may be very interested to see this thread.

The D showed up pretty nicely and I did offer a lower amount on the coin. I am not really a Merc collector but having key dates are kind of fun as long as you don't overpay for them. Learned this lesson by purchasing a few key date coins maybe a year and a half ago. 1893S Morgan VF25, 1909SVDB VF30 and 1937D 3 legged Buffalo XF 45 I doubt I could get my full purchase price back on any of these coins if I had to sell them now.

Not trying to brag but I just moved a PCGS example on ebay for $660 so $550 is a good price.

yes that is the gentleman that is selling the coin. Good memory doubl3eagle! He did tell me what he paid for the coin yesterday. My offer was what he paid plus a bit extra for shipping and insurance. Thanks for the heads up though!

Nice AG merc for the right price. I was looking at one a few weeks back and the seller wanted around $425 (also NGC- AG) and it didn't look as good as this one. The "D" on this one is much better.
