Moderators, please allow me to try this category.

I tried this in another thread and got no help. This is an early creamer and I believe that it's a coin silver piece. There is one hallmark on the base depicting an Indian holding a bow and an arrow. This is also the pre civil war Massachusetts State Seal. It has the initialsERH engraved on the lower portion of the front. Any connection? I have been all over Google and this one has me flustered. The creamer is 6 1/4 inches tall from the top of the handle down to the base and weighs 208.9 grams or 6.7 ounces. Anybody have any information?

I saw this in the other thread. Very interesting piece. I would guess possibly Colonial peroid or early 19th Century. I'm not sure it's American in origin. Possibly British.
Let me see what I can find :-)

If this helps, I have a side by side comparison showing the pre civil war Massachusetts logo and the silver mark. Both about the same. The button is from circa 1820-1850's.

Probably the place to start would be to find a library with a copy of Patricia Kane's Colonial Massachusetts Silversmiths and Jewelers. If this hallmark isn't in there, Professor Kane's academic email address is listed at Yale; perhaps she might respond to an unsolicited query?
