May I invite you over to the World Coin section of this forum where forum members Swamperbob and ColonialJohn have been teaching an ongoing college level class in
Counterfeit Detection. I was doing yard work all day and only saw this post just now but as Condor101 already posted, the edge was a dead giveaway for the fake. (Swamperbob's mantra ... always look at the third side, the edge)
I would also be curious about the price the "coin shop" charged, it could be an indication that they knew it was fake so made it "too good a deal to pass up".
