I scrapped my contender a couple weeks ago. That is one buggered florin trout!

It has been in the ground for quite some time I imagine. I dug it up when getting a veggie patch organised for "She who MUST be obeyed"  I live in an old farm house that is probably over 100 years old, It may be time to borrow a metal detector  |

Rumpole would be proud Trout! I hope your veggie patch is in a tad betetr state than mine. In the past month we had over 30 inches of rain (yes inches) and every grass/weed seed on the planet has shot and is now over 18 inches tall! Aaaagggghhhh! Grading ...... aBU  |

texta: All MD finds! How about doing it in the same way as in the mining industry: Hire an aircraft, and do a magnetometer survey.  trout would appreciate THAT approach! Or maybe get the Navy to use one of their Orion aircraft with a MAD boom in the tail. Just remember to have the discriminator circuits switched on, otherwise you will only find submarines. Funny you mention the Orion Sel because we had one flying circles over our house for about 30 minutes yesterday. I read it had returned from 10 odd years service in the middle east and they were putting on a bit of a parade. Perhaps not too special for someone living near a RAAF base but it isn't something you see everyday in suburban Adelaide.

Orions are serviced at Richmond, but are based at Edinburgh.
I have been involved with corrosion control chemistry with these aircraft.

From the previous pictures, it seems quite apparent to me which florins are .500 fine and which are .925 fine.
The alloying metals in the .500 fine coins are copper 40% nickel 5%, and zinc 5%. I think that is this complex alloy that gives rise to the greater extent and complexity of the patinas on the .500 coins.
