Almost all the time when I look at currency online, they are scanned to show off its quality. To me, it doesn't tell me much though. I can't really tell a AUNC from a 61 from a 66 from a flat bed scan.

with a coin, it's easier with angles, luster and so on, but with bills?

Is a way to hold it by the edges to display the ridgidness of the bill? What's the easiest and best way to display it? Maybe link to a youtube clip where you handle it?

How is everyone else doing it?

Looking at a note at an angle with a light source shining across the face is one way to tell the difference between the lower grade UNC's and the higher grade gems, but not sure if taking a picture of that view will show all the details.

Would like to see any pics that come from this topic

Putting a light source directly behind a bill and taking a picture of it in a well lit environment also helps people make out any folds, creases, or handling marks.
The only way to tell if it has good paper quality is actually touching it or having a third party grading holder tell you so.
Epikur, you should look at PCGS's grading standards on their website to distinguish the differences between AU58, New 63, and Gem grades (65+).
Scanning is still a great way to accurately show notes online as I personally think it is superior to most photos taken of notes.

In the past I have seen ebay sellers take pictures with notes resting on one finger to show crispness. The side light source is always a favorite. It makes everything pop. Not only can you not tell a 61 from a 66 by a scan. You can't tell a 30 from a 66 sometimes. It is easy to press out a VF note to make it look UNC in a scan. Several ebay sellers do that as their business model.
