@ Arianzo, the graded coins Keith has are extras he got in the states and doesn't want anymore. This is how he bought them. I have a friend in Az who sends a bunch of coins in to get grade and just gets rid of boxes and COA's . He's trying to do a registry set, what ever that is. He tells me us Canucks are always asking about boxes & COA's on graded coins. He cannot figure out our fascination with the stuff, when it's a graded coin! I'm included, as I offered extra if he could find the packaging, but alas too much work and extra shipping expense. I thought I'd just answer your question, and say I also ask for COA's if I know it's the person sending them in for grading! I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing a couple graded ones that went for $50.
Well, firstly, COA means Certificate of Authenticity. So, it's not just a piece of paper. Secondly, the COA explains the history behind the coin, about the design. The COA give the technical details like weight, mintage, diameter, material, etc. I can't find nothing about that in the graded coin holder. If my coin is graded, I agree that the box, sleeve or whatever comes with, is worthless EXCEPT the COA.

@ Arianzo I just thought you were coming from a collector, who wants the original packaging to go along with your coin. It never occurred to me in regards to a counterfeit slab. I know this does happen, I doubt it does for the cheaper coins. You have definitely brought up some interesting points to consider.
Check this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Canada...141124015021 As you see in the 3rd picture, he's giving the COA with every graded coin. No box (I understand that). The problem with sets like this is that if you sell the coins individually you just have 1 COA like here for example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-5-NGC-...200991604378In the description the seller writes: "You will receive ONLY THE $5 1 ounce coin in NGC PF69 EARLY RELEASES Reverse Proof . CERT #'S WILL VARY AS WE HAVE MORE THEN 1 SET TO SELL.".
Now, what I was thinking in fact is not only that I do want the COA. I was thinking what does the seller who graded the coins does with the COA? The box I know he sells it individually as we see in
ebay but having this COA's "flying around" is very dangerous. I don't want to think about these Chinese counterfeit producers buying them or maybe the sellers who buy this counterfeit coins having access to this original COA's.
I mean, I think that we as collectors and dealers have a certain degree of responsibility with all the original stuff we receive.
