Glad you're back! It's a bronze coinweight, used to check the weight of a 15th century French gold ecu. Several examples here:

The hand pictured on the other side indicates this coinweight was made in Antwerp. The initials on either side of the hand are those of the maker, who may be identifiable.

Thanks Phil. Looks as if the letters on the sides are H and I. Almost looks like a letter O? above the H. No idea who I am looking for as a maker.

Might the initials be HF? There was a maker named Hans Foncq, active until 1603. After 1576, makers of coinweights in Antwerp placed a numerical digit above each initial, for the last two digits of the year. First decade of the 17th century then? Perhaps 1601?

you are correct. It is HF. Numbers I cannot get....It looks like 40. They are seperated ..but I could be wrong. Very hard to tell.

I'm seeing a zero over the H, though the 8's on these can be big, and corrosion might make one look like a zero. The second digit should be over the F; it sort of looks like a one to me.

I think I see a 7 over the F now that you say. It actually looked like a 4 because its on the finger area. I still see a 4 or a P on the other side on the left of the 0 still. Oh well....a mystery.

Here's one that's similar. Trying to find one that isn't a dug, corroded mess.
